As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen academic and scientific cooperation between the Republic of Iraq and Malaysia, the Iraqi Cultural Attach\u00e9 in Kuala Lumpur participated in an official meeting with the leadership of Universiti Islam Selangor<\/strong>, to discuss avenues for enhancing academic partnerships between Iraqi universities and their Malaysian counterparts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting was held at the university\u2019s headquarters in the State of Selangor on 13 March 2026, in the presence of the Charg\u00e9 d\u2019Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuala Lumpur, Counsellor Ahmed Ghanim Abdul Jabbar, and the Cultural Attach\u00e9, Dr. Abduljalil Mohammed Majeed, along with a number of the university\u2019s academic staff, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Student and Alumni Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdul Razif bin Zaini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, the President of the University, Professor Dr. Mohammad Farid Ravi Abdullah, presented an overview of the university\u2019s academic programs, particularly in the fields of Islamic studies and the Arabic language. He also highlighted his previous academic ties with several Iraqi professors and expressed his interest in strengthening cooperation with Iraqi universities, as well as his desire to visit Iraq to explore its academic institutions and cultural and historical landmarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For its part, the Iraqi Cultural Attach\u00e9 emphasized the importance of this meeting in expanding academic cooperation and activating memoranda of understanding between Iraqi and Malaysian universities, in a way that contributes to enhancing scientific research and academic exchange between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Attach\u00e9 also reaffirmed its commitment to building sustainable academic connections with Malaysian educational institutions and to strengthening the international presence of Iraqi universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of maintaining continuous coordination and communication to further develop scientific partnerships. The President of the University also indicated his intention to brief the Government of the State of Selangor on the outcomes of the meeting, in support of future cooperation initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n
