The meeting saw participation from the Malaysian side, including Prof. Dr. Mohamed Johari Mohamed Yusof, Dean of the Faculty of Design and Architecture, Prof. Dr. Zalina Shari, Director of Student Affairs and International Relations, Dr. Azra Azmi, Head of the Architecture Department, and Dr. Sara Abdul Karim, lecturer at the Faculty of Design and Architecture, along with several other academics and administrators from UPM. Representing the Iraqi side were Dr. Yahya Adel Ibrahim, Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs and Students, Dr. Ahmed Luay Ahmed, Head of the Architectural Design Branch, Dr. Lina Ghanem Yaqub, Head of the Urban Design Branch, and Dr. Nagham Ahmed Jassim, along with other specialists.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Salah Mahdi Khaleel the academic advisor, representing the Iraqi Cultural Attach\u00e9 in the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuala Lumpur, also attended the meeting. During the session, two presentations were given: the first on the Faculty of Architecture and Interior Design at UPM, and the second on the Department of Architecture at UoT.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Salah Mahdi Khaleel provided a detailed explanation of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education of Iraq vision, emphasizing the importance of internationalizing Iraqi universities and connecting them with their global counterparts, particularly in Malaysia, due to their shared history and longstanding academic relations. He expressed his happiness at this first meeting and offered the Attach\u00e9’s support in any administrative or logistical arrangements for organizing activities resulting from this or future meetings.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Johari expressed his satisfaction with the meeting and the strong desire of UPM to advance possible understandings with Iraqi universities, noting the respect and appreciation that Iraqi researchers have earned in Malaysia. He emphasized that collaboration with Iraqi universities would be beneficial for both parties. Dr. Yahya also expressed his pride in this opportunity, noting that the prospects for cooperation are clear, feasible, and ready for implementation, especially with UoT’s eagerness to strengthen international relations with global universities.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting concluded with a strong emphasis on the need to form working groups to discuss all the details mentioned during the meeting and to follow up on them promptly to ensure readiness for implementation in the coming period.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
