As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen academic and scientific cooperation between Iraq and Malaysia, a delegation from the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq and the Iraqi Cultural Attach\u00e9 in Kuala Lumpur paid an official visit to Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) on 5 August 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the formal meeting with the university leadership, the following key issues were addressed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supporting Iraqi Students: Both sides discussed mechanisms to provide greater support for the 196 Iraqi students currently enrolled at UNITEN, emphasizing the need to create a supportive academic environment that helps them overcome challenges and achieve success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scholarship Opportunities: The Cultural Attach\u00e9 reiterated its strong interest in securing a dedicated quota of scholarships for Iraqi students through the Attach\u00e9, covering all academic levels:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Undergraduate programs, to encourage new Iraqi students to pursue their studies at UNITEN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Postgraduate programs (Master\u2019s and PhD), to enhance advanced training and academic specialization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Postdoctoral fellowships, to promote collaborative research, innovation, and academic knowledge exchange between UNITEN and Iraqi institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strengthening Academic Cooperation: Both sides stressed the importance of sustaining momentum in academic relations through faculty and student exchange programs, joint research initiatives, academic mobility, and the co-organization of conferences, workshops, and training activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the official discussions, the program of the visit included:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A tour of UNITEN\u2019s laboratories and specialized workshops, where the delegation explored the university\u2019s advanced facilities and research capabilities in engineering and energy-related fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
