زار وفد مشترك من الملحقية الثقافية العراقية والجامعة العراقية، جامعة هيريوت وات الأسكتلندية في ماليزيا، يوم 26 يوليو 2024. تألف الوفد الزائر من الأستاذ المساعد الدكتور أحلام نعمة لفتة، المستشار الثقافي في سفارة جمهورية العراق، والأستاذ الدكتور خميس عواد زيدان، مساعد رئيس الجامعة العراقية للشؤون العلمية، ومدير قسم العلاقات الدولية في الجامعة العراقية، والموظف الإداري في الملحقية الثقافية العراقية في كوالالمبور.
وقد استُقبل الوفد من قبل الأستاذ الدكتور مشتاق العتابي، الرئيس التنفيذي لفرع جامعة هيريوت وات في ماليزيا. وتم عقد لقاء رسمي بهذه المناسبة لبحث أوجه التعاون بين الجامعتين وبحث فرص الاستثمار في بيئة التعليم العالي العراقية، خصوصاً مع التوجهات الحديثة لوزارة التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي العراقي في البحث عن شركاء دوليين لنقل التجارب الناجحة في التعليم إلى نماذج التعليم العالي المعتمدة في العراق.
كما تم النقاش في أمور التعاون المباشر وأهمية دعم أي مبادرات من شأنها ربط الجامعات العراقية بالجامعات الرصينة في العالم. وفي ختام اللقاء، تم التقاط الصور التذكارية بهذه المناسبة مع تبادل الهدايا والتأكيد على أهمية التواصل بين الطرفين لضمان تنفيذ ما من شأنه توسيع التعاون العلمي والأكاديمي.

A joint delegation from the Iraqi Cultural Attaché and the AL-Iraqa University visited Heriot-Watt University in Malaysia on July 26, 2024. The visiting delegation consisted of Assistant Professor Dr. Ahlam N. Lafta, Cultural Counselor at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq, Professor Dr. Khamis Awad Zaidan, Vice President of the Al-Iraqia University for Scientific Affairs and Director of the International Relations Department at the Al-Iraqia University, and an Academic Advisor at the Iraqi Cultural Attaché in Kuala Lumpur.
The delegation was received by Professor Dr. Mushtaq Al-Attabi, CEO and Provost of Heriot-Watt University in Malaysia. An official meeting was held on this occasion to discuss avenues of cooperation between the two universities and explore investment opportunities in the Iraqi higher education environment. This is in line with the recent directives of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to seek high-level international partners to transfer successful educational experiences to the higher education models adopted in Iraq.
Discussions also covered matters of direct cooperation and the importance of supporting initiatives that link Iraqi universities with prestigious universities around the world. At the end of the meeting, commemorative photos were taken, gifts were exchanged, and there was an emphasis on the importance of maintaining communication between the two parties to ensure the implementation of efforts aimed at expanding scientific and academic cooperation.
